Scholarships for the arts

Sycamore Arts provides up to four scholarships each year in the amount of $500 for each Tate County, MS student recipient.  Scholarships are in memory of Founding Member – Kathryn Gabbert.  Awards are made in the spring each year to high school seniors who have completed the application and submitted a handwritten request.

Scholarship Winners 2025

The Katherine Gabbert Art Scholarship is awarded annually to graduating seniors in Tate county to further their art studies. The 2025 recipients are: Nathan Yount (pictured) from Strayhorn High, Jacqulyn Porter and Raymond Thompson from Senatobia High School. Sycamore Arts is grateful for the support of First Financial Bank, First Security Bank, and Guaranty Bank to continue this program. We wish much success to this year’s honorees.

Art After Hours – July 8

Please join us July 8 from 5-6:30pm at First Financial Bank 700 Robinson St., Senatobia. Art After Hours will celebrate the MS Art Colony exhibit now on display in the bank lobby. Light refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

MS Art Colony Traveling Show

The Mississippi Art Colony Traveling Show is an art exhibit from the preceding Art Colony session. The Spring Colony Session will be held June 16-July 7, 2025. The show is sponsored by the Sycamore Arts Council..

Andy Ratliff – Entertainer

Andy Ratliff recently performed for the residents of the Senatobia Convalescent Center courtesy of the Sycamore Arts Council. Residents were thoroughly entertained and Andy is a true gem of a musician playing anything that has strings. You can reach Andy through the Senatobia Arts Council.

Percussion Concert 2025 – April 24th

Sycamore arts is please to co-sponsor the NWCC Percussion Concert on April 24, 2025. We will be providing lunch for the 200+ regional junior and senior high school participants. The concert, under the direction of John Ungurait – Director of Bands at Northwest Mississippi Community College, will perform at 7pm at the Heindl Performing Arts Center.

Senatobia 5 Star Festival – May 10th

Sycamore Arts again will have a canopied “Bloomin’ Booth” Saturday May 10, 2025, to offer art and handcrafted items for sale by regional artists. This is a 2-day event held in Gabbert Park features music, multiple various vendors, corn-hole and barbecue contests and a huge Car Show. It annually draws over 5000 people. It’s a fun event with something for everybody – Come visit and shop with us!!

Mississippi Art Colony Traveling Art Show

The Mississippi Art Colony Traveling Show is an art exhibit from the preceding Art Colony session. The Fall Colony Session was led by guest artist, Bryce Speed and the traveling art award winners were chosen by Mr. Speed. The show is co-sponsored by the Sycamore Arts Council and the Northwest Community College Art Department.
